Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Bau

Compared to other industries, digitization in the construction and real estate industries is still in the development phase. A multitude of practical questions inhibit the implementation of digital methods and tools. What qualifications should employees have? How can digitization be implemented on construction sites in practice? What does a construction company have to do in order to keep up with the digital requirements of planners and building owners? The Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Bau finds practical answers to these and many other questions and makes them available to small and medium-sized enterprises. To this end, demonstrators for specific applications, opportunities to learn from best-practice examples, lectures, training courses and a variety of other services are offered to promote networking and the exchange of experiences.

Key areas of expertise of the competence center

The center focuses on the following areas:

  • Project development (asset and investment management, financing, insurance)
  • Planning and construction (including product manufacturers and suppliers)
  • Operation (use, administration, building management, technical facility management, etc.)

Fraunhofer IBP as overall coordinator

Fraunhofer IBP is one of five main partners and at the same time overall coordinator of the competence center. Southern Germany is coordinated by Fraunhofer IBP in Holzkirchen. The institute primarily supports the digitization of building operations and contributes its expertise in specific fields.
